Pro-Wrestling is Real

in the sense that our interactions with others are real, even when they are scripted. Tabletop RPGs are real in the same way: real but in our minds, shaping how we see the world. It is our interactions with others that are most important, for even in the most scripted environments, of both work and play, there is some impromtu work going on.

In the book Babel 17 by Samuel R Delany, spaceships are piloted and navigated by crews that each perceive space and hyperspace in a different way: sound, smell, and taste. Experiencing other people's perceptions of the same stimuli can teach us a lot about the world around us, not just the people around us.
