From Making Your Own Destiny, To Letting It Come

As much as I do enjoy the works for John Varley, his trilogy containing Red ThunderRed Lighting, and Rolling Thunder started with a group of kids taking initiative to make their own destiny, and ends with a group of kids just letting it happen to them. As children and grandchildren of greats in a growing legacy of hard times, struggles that were once fought for in Red Lightning, just seem to fall into the laps of the following generations is Rolling Thunder.

With his Gaean Trilogy (containing TitanWizard, and Demon), his characters fought for every moment of their legacy. This newer series falls from that mark.

Nonetheless, the series makes for a good read to those members of his audience who are ever thirsting for more of Varley's words.
