Mother of Reinvention

There are two sides to invention: invention in and of itself, and reinvention.

Invention is making something new that hasn't been there before. I don't do much (if any) of this.

Reinvention, on the other hand, is common enough, especially between my sewing projects and my cooking. My brain likes making guesses, very good guesses, at how things are made. Reverse-engineering.

I know it may be strange to say, but I made toast today.

I've never made toast. Probably haven't even seen it being made in... a dozen years. But I can make connections and judgments and assumptions.

It was very good toast.

(Yes, I know I'm a dork.)
