Who Cares About Daily Deviations Anyway?

I do. Very much so.

For those unaware, most of my writing is posted on an art community by the name of deviantArt, and I hold the user name "divBy0." I've been using this account for over six years now, and I've exceeded one thousand pieces of art.

DeviantArt features art from artists, suggested by artists every day, and those pieces gain insane amounts of attention, which is impossible for any writer who doesn't have a book deal.

I know many artists, writers and otherwise, around me who have received daily deviations, and their other submissions have benefited from it. I have yet to receive one.

The biggest problem is that too few people are willing to stick their necks out there and suggest something, even though they lose nothing if their suggestion isn't chosen. I myself am batting 0 for 38, and am only slightly discouraged in my suggestions. But I have asked my readers if they've ever suggested anything of mine to be featured, and the answer is a resounding "no."

Yes, I asked why. Most of them didn't know how to submit and who to submit to. So I gave them instructions, then asked again.

"No." Why? "Nothing stands out." "Everything you write is too good." "I can't pick one." "I don't have time to read that."

I have been writing for a very long time, and I have very little to show for it. I have been told by a great many people that I am an excellent writer. Either they're lying or... what?

If you find something of mine that you enjoy, comment and tell me why, and let me beg a pardon when I reply, "Why don't you submit this for a DD? You can say exactly what you already said. I'll even tell you the best person to send the suggestion to. It means so much to me. Would you be willing?"

Want to guess what I'll expect the answer to be?
