An Exception to Every Rule, A Book Review

I am a considerably fan of science fiction and fantasy, and am always looking for more material to sate my thirst for it, both in terms of literature and visual media. However, I don't normally enjoy those series that attempt to cross over: books based off of movies or television series, and vice versa. This leads me to a disappointment when it comes to television series, more often than not, because it is far easier to cancel them than it is to stop a writer from publishing more books.

However, I have found an exception. I fell in love with Firefly, and knew I was bound for disappointment  because I discovered the series after it was canceled. Just a few weeks ago, I stumbled across a free eBook (again through Aldiko) by an author I have enjoyed in the past, and downloaded the book without reading the synopsis. When I started reading, I was in for a surprise.

My Own Kind of Freedom by Steven Brust does an excellent job of keeping the world of Firefly alive. I probably shouldn't say much more about it, lest I offend those who feel differently than I do about spoilers, but from me, this book comes highly recommended.

It also has been release under the Creative Commons license, so it is free to download for all.
