Five Smooth Stones of Liberal Religion: #3

We need to work together for a just and loving community.
 - R. Lloyd Ryan summarizing James Luther Adams

Alone we cannot be a community. Alone we can (try to) run a community, but alone we cannot be a community. (Don't get me started on MPD.)

It is selfish to want a place of justice and love to live and to raise the next generation, but it is the mutually beneficial form of selfishness that gives this to us. Even people who are alone, want to be alone need a community around them where they can be appreciated, supported, but given the opportunities to be alone.

To do that, we must work together. There is no other option.

Working together also implies that we are doing the work willingly, not out of ownership or implied slavery.
