Fix The Tired

What really makes me tired is all these ads filled with people who lack the discipline to keep themselves awake. All these drugs are not good for you. Uppers when you're sleepy and want to be awake, downers when you're awake and want to be sleepy; uppers when you want to be "up," though I haven't seen any drugs that make you flaccid...

They say these drugs are not addiction forming (for some of them at least), but what they mean by that isn't the whole story.

Non-addiction-forming means there's no chemical addiction created by using the drug repeatedly. Just like there's no chemical addiction created when I play Minecraft or use the internet.

What they don't tell you is about psychological addictions. If you're undisciplined enough to not bother getting a good night's sleep, then you're more prone to try and use an energy drink to wake you up in the morning when you need to be up. Eventually, you'll get to the point where you don't bother trying to get a decent night's sleep because you know you can get away with it.

So you'll keep abusing yourself and keep using the drug. You'll get to enjoy the satisfaction. Just as I enjoy the satisfaction of playing Minecraft or being connected to people through the internet. I will admit, I'm addicted to have the internet, and through it, the world, at my fingertips. There's no chemical that I'm ingesting, just a little brick of technology in my pocket.

It's still an addiction, and, if disregarded, can be nonetheless unhealthy.
