Remember Who You Could Be

Remembering you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.
Steve Jobs

She burned like a fire despite these rains
Where time was a question, she only song
She's singing, "How far, how fast, how long?"...

She came when we were freezing
Left us burning up.

-"Amy's Song" by Switchfoot

"Take my hand
Live while you can.
Don't you see your dream lie right
In the palm of your hand?"

-"Ordinary Day" by Vanessa Carlton

We all get one chance at life (unless you're into rebirth, which I am not). One chance to show the world who we are, to find something in the world that we don't like, and to do something about it. What are you going to do with that chance?

Are you going to burn it out by being frivolous in your choices? Wasting your time on petty things? I'm not just going to sit here and keep writing these words of mine that you read every night. I don't just sit here and write: I live these words that I share with you, and then I share them in the hopes you will find your own words, your own meanings, your own truths in this life and live them for yourself.

Don't be afraid of anything, least of all making a fool of yourself. If you're following and living your dreams, anybody who laughs at you is the fool. Any shortcomings of yours that they draw attention to isn't about you: it's them, jealous of your ability to step past their limited world-view. It's not about pulling your dreams down to earth, it's about pulling yourself up to your dreams, rising above all the pettiness around, and hopefully leading by example.

Everybody can live the life they dream of, but not everybody can break down the walls and ceilings of misconceptions that bar the way.
