An Unexpected Roommate

I prefer to wander my apartment in dim light, no different than living with my folks, and for very similar reasons.

If I don't need a light, I don't turn it on. It saves energy, saves money, and saves my eyes. I memorize my floor plans so I can get through them quickly, quietly, and freely without injuring myself.

However, just a few days ago, I discovered I have an unexpected--though not necessarily unwelcome--roommate. From the light of my open refrigerator I found a spider on my tile floor. I have no issue with spiders, only webs and bugs that won't stay in their place. (I encountered a cockroach or two at my high school that I left alone provided they stayed away from me, which they did.)
I had a problem with flies this summer, but the problem vanished virtually overnight, faster than expected. I imagine my unexpected roommate had a hand in that. The spider is welcome, as long as it doesn't cross over to my side of the apartment.
