We're All Part of A Great Machine

Imagine a post-Apocalyptic world that's been bombed back to the Stone Age, literally. There's no technology, and any attempt to create electronics is handled with a scorched-earth policy (satellites called "Wanderers" that fry any electro-force signal with a large microwave beam). Bring the world a thousand years forward, and people have learned how to live with this new restrictions on life. A hierarchy emerges based off of maintaining knowledge and learning, in place of "nuns" are "librarians."

The world as we know it has ended, but a pre-Apocalyptic technology is threatening to end it once more. The Mirrorsun, a high-earth-orbit device that is designed to tear apart the moon and build a shield between the Earth and the Sun to cool the global warming effect, doesn't realize that the earth is no longer heating up. The only way to stop it is to get its attention with technology that nobody knows how to use anymore. Meanwhile, a turf-war is reigning and what we really need to survive is a supercomputer...
