Don't You Hate It When This Happens?

Do half-remembered memories ever hit you, running into people you know you shoulld know, places you know you've been to, past events slinking in the shadows, words not quite on the tip of your tongue?

It's a terrible feeling, and Johnny X woke up one morning feeling just that way, finding his house stolen and a business card left behind in its place. Those are the words on the card: "Don't you hate it when this happens?" What happens to him over the next sixty-four hours, fourteen minutes, and fifty-six seconds, could hardly be called Outrageous Fortune, but that's the title Tim Scott decided on, in this whirlwind, borderline-nonsensical story.

It's a cross between Terry Pratchett, Douglass Adams, and Simon Green, where 56 seems to be the new 42, and the three hundred plus pages feel like far more time than just under four days.

However, if you didn't care for the work of any of the three above names, this book is probably not for you.
