The [holy book title] Says It's Wrong

"I'm sorry, I brought the wrong notes this morning, I borrowed quotes from the wrong century. What I've been reading to you this whole time are direct quotes from white preachers in the 1950s and the 1960 all in support of racial segregation. All I have done is simply done is take out the phrase 'racial integration' and substitute it with the phrase 'gay rights'..."
-Preacher speaking before the Springfield, Missouri city council

I know the subject matter isn't funny, debates over the discrimination of people based off of their sexual orientation. I should know, as I am directly affected by the debates, as an out-of-the-closet bisexual.

What I draw humor from is coincidence. Two items that I have encountered in the news in the same hour, normally taken as unrelated events, and yet still, they are cross-applicable. And that is what my head has always done: found two different items and draw them together, more often than not causing people to take a different look at things. The change in perspective may not cause them to change their minds, but it may bring new levels of enlightenment or awareness of an issue.

The other was the passing of the creator of Mad-Libs.
