Mid-week Special: Internet Memes and Minecraft Seeds

You wouldn't get this from any other guy
I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling
Gotta make you understand...
-Rick Astley

It might be hard to believe, but I actually like this song. I know that's pretty much taboo these days, thanks to the "Rick-Roll" meme.

But today, it holds a very special place in my heart.

For those familiar with Minecraft, you know that you can enter in a "seed" to load a specific world, instead of  just having one randomly generated. I know I've talked about this before. For those of you unfamiliar with Minecraft, follow the link..

I play Minecraft on my XBox because my computer is too old and too slow. I've found a seed (that I tried before, many many updates ago), and found something amazing.

In recent versions of Minecraft, the creators have added a new biome to the collection, called the mushroom biome. It is very rare. For PC users, who have (almost) no limit on their world size, it's likely that they find one. For XBox users, the world size is very fixed, so finding this particular rare biome is very difficult, mostly a matter of finding the right seed.

Well, today I got lucky. Incalculably lucky. I found a seed for the XBox version of Minecraft, with not one, but two mushroom biomes. This is the first time I even seen one firsthand in the wild (the tutorial world doesn't count).

And thanks to this grand discovery, anybody who's interested need to just through this hoop. (Yes, you'll see an ad first, but hey, starving artist here!)

(If you do follow through and find it, please be nice and don't shout it out to the world; instead, redirect people here. I really need the revenue from the ad. It's just an extra five seconds of your time.)
