This Week In DC History, Vol 2

What is This Week In DC History

"On Writing: Telling The Story," Wednesday, April 6, 2011

Three years ago, I spoke about how stories are not in my hands. The way the story develops, how the characters interact and become who the are and who they're meant to be, all that... it's not me doing it. The characters live inside me, but they're not me.

This still hasn't changed.

Even when the story contains characters that are modeled after myself--even when every character is based off a different part of me--even then, the characters have lives of their own, aspects about themselves that I am not completely privy to.

If you talk about this to someone who isn't an artist, they think you're crazy. Really. As if you should be locked up. So if you ever need to talk about someone in one of your stories as if they're a real person, I'm here.
