MBWS: Propagate

"Fixed like a plant in his particular spot,
To draw nutrition, propagate, and rot."
 - Alexander Pope

To simplify it to the extreme, that is life for all of us, animal and vegetable. We grow, spread something of ourselves into the world, and die. What we spread into the world isn't necessarily genetic material (as plants in the quote are largely limited to), but it's still part of us.

"The drive to propagate our race has also propagated a lot of other things."
 - Georg Christoph Lichtenberg

Just as I was saying a moment ago... arts, sciences, cultures, ideas, behaviors... all these things are also propagated alongside genetic material.

"Benevolent scholars propagate knowledge."
 - Sam Veda

There's another words for "benevolent scholar" that may seem more familiar. We call them teachers.
