TIMM Tag of the Week, Vol 19

Yes, I missed last week, and I'm sorry about that. for those of you who noticed, this week is going to be a two-post double-hitter, but I'm back-dating the post so all the numbers make sense and the posts are in the right order. Seems a strange thing to do, but you're going to have to trust me on this one. You can find Vol 18 here.

Tag: magic

I've always had issues with magic, in the sense that I can't ever seem to find any to satisfy me, and am consequently unsatisfied with my own attempts to create worlds of my own that contain it. Magic is quite the slippery thing, and the more you try to hold it still and examine it, the more it sneaks away and hides under your bed.

I don't want to find magic in the world for the sake of having magic of my own. Unlike a large part of the populace that takes part in a fandom or three, I want to see magic for the sole purpose of knowing it exists.

Now let me be clear: I'm not referring to stage magic, or so-called "street" magic that is filled with tricks and sleight-of-hand and such. I'm referring to Harry-Dresden-esk magic, Merlin-ish magic, magic of elves, faeries, grues, and the earth; real magic as it were.

I just want to know it's there.

Featured Art:
"What I Need," Friday, May 10, 2013
The title says everything that needs to be said.

"Overshadowed and Outshined," Friday, February 4, 2011
This piece directly references the yearning that I feel to try to measure up to other artists, to create and capture magic with my art.

"Make Safe, Make Strong," Friday, June 20, 2008
This piece offers thoughts that I would do with some ability of my own, namely taking John Bridger's advice (Italian Job): find somebody I want to spend the rest of my life with, and hold onto them forever.
