As of the time of writing this (early August of 2014) I've just received an invitation to the Google Domains Beta (they like me, they really like me). While searching for a second domain for myself in their directory (with a disappointing selection of TLDs), I find that .biz is available for all of the domain names I enter, which I find to be curious.

But I'm not willing to invest effort into something that might be snatched from me, because according to Wikipedia, dot-biz domains can be challenged on the basis of whether or not they are bona-fide businesses. However, nobody seems to link directly to any information regarding what defines a "bona-fide" business, at least, nobody that can be found without digging.

A domain registration service by the name of Enetica is the only place I can find that actually posts a registration agreement for the dot-biz TLD, and within that, I finally find the official ICANN registry agreement. That's a lot of work for something that should be immediately available for anyone thinking about registering a dot-biz domain.
  1. To exchange goods, services, or property of any kind;
  2. In the ordinary course of trade or business; or
  3. To facilitate (i) the exchange of goods, services, information, or property of any kind; or, (ii) the ordinary course of trade or business.
That's word-for-word.

The purpose of all of the DreamC Network sites, including DreamClassier, is to facilitate the exchange of information. I feel I would have a genuine claim to a dot-biz domain.

But I decided I didn't want to have to worry about fighting it, especially since I'm likely to abandon the domain after the trial period is up. My current host, iPage, has been good to me, and I registered for another 3 years just a few months ago, so I see no reason to mess with what works.

In the meantime, is now under construction.
