Side-Effects and Symptoms

To me, death is not a fearful thing. It's living that's cursed.
 - Jim Jones

Life is hard, especially when you're a self-aware, semi-intelligent being capable of meta-cognition. It's not easy, having a choice whether or not to use the brain most of us have been blessed with. On the other hand, rolling over and going back to sleep requires little effort.

Strangely enough, sleeping too much leads to symptoms of sleepiness. It's little wonder that closing your eyes and ears and mind to the truth leads one to suffer symptoms of suspicion and paranoia about the world Outside.

And by Outside, I naturally mean outside your head.

Life is hard. There's no if or buts about it. When you've got the ability to make the wrong choices, making the right ones is an any-time life crisis waiting to happen. It's stressful. The weight of your world literally rests on your shoulders.

So why not set the world aside for a bit. Rest your poor little heads. Take a sip of a popular, flavored, powdered drink.

  1. Is it required that the drink is powdered.

Mouthing aside, yes. Life is hard and anyone who promised it's easy was lying through their teeth to try to keep some kind of "innocence" in the one asking. This kinda thing is hardly helpful...Not saying to tell little ones that life is horrifying, but don't let them think that there isn't a challenge.

    1. Mouthing is better than silence, which is not something I've been concerned with from you.

Actually, I'm hoping for a little mouthing off. It's part of the point of this new series. It isn't about saying something people can easily "Like," but rather something people can't but help remark on.

I just have to be careful not to scare my audience completely away in the process.

    2. Oh, and the powdered drink thing is a reference. Do you know who Jim Jones is?
