A Matter of Public Record

It goes without saying that some people should not run for office. That said, common sense is not a prerequisite for holding an office in the US. It's a shame too, or our current president might have been disqualified before things could have gotten this bad... but I digress.

I think it's a good thing that it's relatively easy to run for office. It might be a waste of money for most people who haven't accumulated the necessary "fame points" to pull it off, but still a good thing that they can try.

Now, as I mentioned, "fame points" are still necessary. I can't speak for any other districts, but for mine, I can remember maybe four or five names that were on the presidential ballot last election (2016). Part of that is "fame points." The other part is many of the less notable names who run only get coverage on select ballots, namely, those in and around their home district.

But enough about American politics; if you want to learn more, there are better people to ask than me.

The point of this post is to draw attention to some of the other, less notable people who have filed a Statement of Candidacy for the 2020 presidential election, and explaining (if explanation is felt necessary) purely superficial reasons why they shouldn't run.

Trust me when I say that the American public is more puerile than I can be. And all these names can be accessed on FEC.gov (at least until/if they clear data from the 2020 election).

P00009175: Pig, Refino of Greensboro, NC
You did hear me say puerile, right? We already have a pig in the White House, don't really need another. And they're listed as having a Republican party affiliation. Maybe a joke, but hard to tell.

P00008789: Daniel, Bring Back Dr of Day City, OR
I hesitate to make fun of that name (puerile, remember) given a Jewish/Christian National party affiliation. No, I've never heard of them either, but it's not unheard of for the more devote families to go a little biblical when it comes to names.

P00009035: Kusiak, Joshua of Bensalem, PA
P00009043: Kusiak, Josh of Bensalem, PA
Bensalem is correct. Though there is a Bethlehem PA as well, I most definitely double-checked before trying to make the joke about misspelling your own address. But that's okay, I can still make a joke about double filing (unless they're two different people in the same house--yes, the form does have the full address listed). This is why most of the important forms on the internet (especially the government ones) warn you to only press the Submit button once. Nothing like running against yourself... maybe they thought there wasn't enough competition?

P00007757: Yancey, Floyd Azrael (Death) of Memphis, TN
I wish I was making this up. Eh, can't be much worse than Mr (I refuse to use his proper title out of pure pettiness) Trump. Yeah, I'd totally vote for Flo-- I mean Mr Death. Party Affiliation is Independent, to no surprise, though a little research suggests Azrael isn't consistently the Angel of Death across cultures that mention him by name.

P00007385: Boddie, President R19 of Covington, GA
I don't even know where to start, so I guess I call this the end.

Check out FEC.gov for yourself if you don't believe me.
